The
Culinary School of Fort Worth begins its 18th year! We are located
in the former space of Fort Worth’s Balcony Restaurant (above
La Madeleine) on Camp Bowie.
Thank you to our valued students, talented chefs and instructors
and fabulous staff for yet another exciting year of cooking classes,
parties and our new professional chef course. We look forward
to even more opportunities with our move to this 5,200 sq. ft.
space.
Our chef students will have a fully-equipped professional restaurant
kitchen and class room. Super Suppers will have abundant space
and tables for building those “golden” entrees. And
our new recreational kitchen will be located in the beloved Balcony
dining room for regular classes and parties.

Judie
Byrd loves to teach people to cook! She began teaching
moms to cook 19 years ago, in her home kitchen. This venture developed
into The Culinary School of Fort Worth, which offers an after-work
culinary program where people can earn a chef certificate while
keeping their regular jobs. The school also offers recreational
cooking classes and a children’s culinary program.
In 2003, Judie created Super Suppers to meet the demanding needs
of busy parents who want to create quality family time around
the dinner table - but don’t have the extra time and energy
to cook meals from scratch. These moms tell her constantly their
families ask the daily question, “Mom, what’s for
dinner?” Now there is a healthful, delicious, easy and fun
answer!
At Super Suppers, Judie’s team has done all the shopping
and chopping, slicing and dicing. All sauces are made and ingredients
are organized. Tasty hors d’oeuvres are set out and great
music can be heard around the room. Guests attend this 1 ½-hour,
meal-assembly party where they construct 12 generous entrees and
then take them home to freeze until it’s time to defrost,
cook, and serve a fabulous home-cooked, made-from-scratch dinner.
Judie and her team write, test and implement the monthly recipes
for Super Suppers franchisees across the United States.
A member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals,
Judie has shared her recipes and cooking ideas in various magazines
including Family Circle, Reader’s Digest, Women’s
Day and Shine. She is a frequent guest on local and national TV
and radio. She is food editor of Fort Worth Magazine and spokesperson
for Honeysuckle White Turkey. Judie has studied cooking at the
CIA in Hyde Park, NY, Le Cordon Bleu School of Cookery in London
as well as in the Orient, France, Belgium and Italy. She studied
entertaining and catering at the home and studios of Martha Stewart
in Westport, CT.
A cookbook author, Judie’s cookbooks are Help! My Family’s
Hungry and Meals in Minutes.
Judie lives in Fort Worth, Texas, with Bill, her husband of 40
years. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.
